DIY Lavender Bath Salts
Is there anything more luxurious and relaxing than sitting in a hot bath with a glass of wine or a cup of tea, candles and maybe a good book? The answer is yes!
By adding bath salts with essential oils into your bath it will not only make it more luxurious, it will detoxify your body, relax your muscles, and the aroma therapy of the essential lavender oil will calm your mind and soul. It is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to add some serious pampering and self care into your life.
These DIY (Fai da te - in Italian) lavender bath salts are incredibly easy to put together with only a few ingredients and not much mixing. They also make a thoughtful and beautiful gift if you are looking for something creative to make for your family or friends. Last year around the Holidays I made a big batch for all the lovely ladies in my life. I don’t know a mamma (or a papa) that couldn’t use a bit of this at bath time.
the ingredients
Epsom salt - is not like the salt that we eat but is actually made up of magnesium, sulfur, and oxygen. It is said to have great hydrating and detoxifying properties and can actually provide magnesium to the body as well. It can help with aches and pains and can help promote better sleep and stress reduction thanks to the magnesium.
Himalayan Pink Sea Salt - is believed to be one of the purest and most mineral rich salts available. It helps restore minerals to the body. Helps detoxify and leaves you feeling relaxed.
Coconut Oil - besides being the carrier oil of the essential oils, coconut oil leaves your skin feeling moisturized and silky after the bath. It also adds a lovely bit of aromatherapy.
Lavender Essential Oil - is well known for its relaxing scent. It is commonly used for it’s calming and soothing properties but it is also believed to help with depression and insomnia.
Dried Lavender Buds - These are just an extra addition of the lavender scent. If you are making these bath salts for gifts they also add another touch of beauty to the over all aesthetics of the salts :)

Some end notes
Make sure to keep a lovely glass of water by your side when using these lavender bath salts. All the goodness that your body is going through can make you thirsty :)
*Lavender bath salts aren’t for everyone - if you are pregnant, have kidney problems, or other health conditions EPSOM salt may not be for you. Please make sure :)
Other essential oils can be used instead of the lavender oil. There are many fantastic scents out there and many fun combinations if you would like to make it your own :)
The lavender buds in these DIY bath salts are fun but if you don’t like these little guys floating along with you in the bath just omit them :)
